新舞台劇場因為產權轉移，引發可能熄燈的社會疑慮！多日來不少藝文界人士不斷呼籲，希望保留這座具有文化意義的民間專業劇場，文化部表示，22日將召開相關單位的協調會議，包括金管會、台北市政府都發局、文化局、中信銀、及中信銀基金會、新舞台等都已邀請出席，希望能釐清相關法規，找出具體方法，讓新舞台大門持續打開、永不熄燈。
文化部長龍應台指出，新舞台雖是私有財產，但已具有文化的公共性。20日文化部已邀請文資委員前往新舞台現場了解，他們認為，新舞台具有《文資法》所重視的「歷史、文化、藝術價值」，希望能從文資角度思考新舞臺的歷史文化價值，文化部將以最速件方式，在下週一27日函請台北市政府著手啟動新舞台的文化資產身份鑑定。
文化部強調，新舞台雖然是純民間經營的專業劇場，但是從興建之初，公部門即基於對藝術文化的支持，給予中信銀、新舞台方面相當大的協助，文化部去年也補助2千萬元更新舞台設施，新舞台的「文化公共性」是明確的。文化部期望，22日召開的協調會議，希望能釐清相關法規，找出具體方法，讓新舞台大門持續打開、永不熄燈。
